RENO, Nev. – After pitching eight innings in the Wolf Pack's 13-3 Friday night win against San Diego State, Dalton Gomez has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week. The lefty threw 130 pitches on his way to punching out a career-high 10 batters.

Gomez earned the win on Friday, defeating the Aztecs and cementing the Wolf Pack's second MW regular-season championship in four years. Nevada will play intrastate UNLV in the first round of the MW Championship in San Diego, Calif. Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

After allowing a run in the first inning, the Elk Grove, Calif. native pitched three consecutive shutout innings including three strike outs to go 1-2-3 in the fourth. Gomez went on stretches of retiring seven Aztecs in a row, and later on six.

The junior only allowed eight hits on the night, and did not walk a batter in the contest. Gomez put down the Aztecs 1-2-3 in four separate innings.
