Ex-Raiders safety Roderic Teamer told a trooper he was speeding on a Las Vegas highway to make the team's curfew, according to an arrest report.

Teamer was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of DUI and speeding between 21 and 30 miles over the posted speed limit.

In an arrest report, Highway Patrol wrote that Teamer was spotted during a DUI blitz at about 10:15 p.m. on the eastbound 215 Beltway near Decatur.

A Las Vegas police lieutenant taking part in the blitz said he saw Teamer's Dodge Durango speeding at about 91 miles per hour while on the 215.

The lieutenant said he could smell marijuana coming from the car, and Teamer told him he was speeding "so he could make curfew due to being a player on the Las Vegas Raiders," the report states.

A trooper was called to help with the DUI investigation and said he "was overwhelmed with the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the Durango." Teamer said he had smoked earlier in the day but could not remember when.

Teamer tried to call a security manager before getting out of his car, but the trooper said he was lawfully detained and the investigation would not be prolonged. He ultimately agreed to participate in field sobriety tests, and a warrant for a blood draw was obtained, according to the report.

The Raiders released Teamer on Monday following the arrest. Interim head coach Antonio Pierce told reporters that while he had great respect for Teamer, it was a case of "bad timing."

"I think all our guys need to understand this, whatever you do on and off the field affects the decision that's going to be made in this building, and we're going to do the best to protect the brand, the shield and the Raiders organization," Pierce said in his press conference.

Teamer has played for the Raiders in parts of the last four seasons. He appeared in six games this year, playing 12% of defensive snaps. The next court hearing for his case is scheduled for April 3 next year.
